I've been to this location and also the one on Huron initially.
It was a quiet afternoon/early dinner time, so service was attentive and we got our food promptly.
My friend and I split a bowl of the tonkatsu ramen and also got a pork belly bun, the karaage, and the hamachi (?) on the side.
The ramen broth had a great flavor profile, noodles were the perfect consistency, and the pork belly chashu was melt in your mouth without being TOO fatty or tough.
I loved the way they fried the karaage with the skin on still. I don't typically order Japanese fried chicken anywhere, but I would definitely get it again here. The pork belly bun was equally good. $5 a pop is kind of steep for the size, but 10/10 would still order it again haha.
The only thing that I wasn't super into was the hamachi (I think that's what it was called?) There was so much going on sauce and garnish-wise that I couldn't even taste anything aside from that, but as you can see, the presentation was pretty regardless :)
*Also, they have an extensive list of Japanese whiskey to choose from!!* -

Came here on Thursday for lunch the wait was only about 10 minutes considering it was lunch time and a perfect chilly day in Chicago to eat ramen . I went here with two other people who enjoy ramen too.
We ordered the Wagyu Gyoza $ 12
Perfect ratio of meat to wrapper . Also cooked to crisp perfection which is great and the dipping sauce typical soy sauce like.
Chicken wings $11 for 5 pieces
I enjoyed the sticky Thai it was sticky sweet and enjoyable . Not a fan of spicy Szechuan wings flavor which was to me a dry rub dumped with lots oil and lots of red pepper flakes.
Lunch special $15 - Well worth the price to enjoy a little bit of everything . Karrage Chicken crispy delicious with the rice and Tonkotsu ramen portion was exactly what I wanted.
Tokotsu $15 - The xoxo wontons were added and gave just another extra dimension with the very flavor broth. Filling at every bite .
I would definitely recommend the lunch special. -

With the wind picking up hitting us all with that Chicago chill I was in need of a steamy broth, multiple ramen options (most open after 5pm) but chose to dip into Ramen-San as a first timer.
Ordered: Kimchi, Karaage nuggets, Imperial Shio. Closed out with a matcha cream puff!
Kimchi serving was scarce. Imperial Shio was scarce & underwhelming.
Karaage nuggets were perfectly crisp w/ hint of lime flavor? and paired with a yummy mayo sauce. Matcha Cream Puff was AMAZING (don't usually order sweets) and the only item that came in a portion large enough to share.
Not sure I'll be back for more ramen but willing to explore the rest of the menu. -

This review is actually a 3.5.
So I had never tried Ramen before so I was excited to check it out with someone.
Heads up this place is small, dark but very cool.
I really enjoyed the ambiance and casual vibe.
I didn't get to order any cocktails b/c I was under the weather so that was a bummer but my cousin gave hers a thumbs up lol.
I order the imperial shio ramen bowl and added corn. I am so glad I ordered corn b/c it just made it better. i thought the sushi would fried, just b/c of my experiences with tofu in pho but I guess I was wrong.f I really didn't like he mushy texture. I also found this to be too bland for my liking and had to dump tons of hot sauce into it.
For dessert I ordered banana pie icecream...it was too "strong" in flavour, I didn't finish it. Apparently they have rotating flavours.
The service was pretty good, though I though the water girl was a bit abrupt lol.
Anyways I think, I will try Ramen again, somewhere else to see if it's the Ramen or the restaurant that's the problem.
I say check this place out, and take advantage of the add ons. -

A- Ok. I was truly disappointed coming here considering it's one of the best ramen places in the city. It was so packed for lunch that we decided to make a reservation for dinner. In my head I was like oh damn this place must be worth it ! We went in and our waiter was not great, a tad rude to be honest. At the end when we wanted to split the check, he straight up walked away for 10 min without word and then came back like nothing happened. The food isn't too great either. They don't have many of the ingredients ramen usually has. Warning, they do sell out of certain types of ramen. I got the fried chicken and pork one and yes they are not kidding, it's HELLA SPICY ! It tasted ok, truly very salty but it's ramen so I didn't expect it to not be salty. It was mediocre. I would have to give compliments to the strawberry sherbet at the end !
Overall it's average. Not the best unfortunately.
